der Fluss, der zwischen Kroatien, Slowenien und Italien flie\u00dft, gilt seit jeher als eines der interessantesten Karstph\u00e4nomene und ist ein Studienobjekt f\u00fcr Wissenschaftler und H\u00f6hlenforscher.<br \/>\nDas liegt an seinem teilweise unterirdischen Verlauf und der Tatsache, dass er sich auf heute noch unbekannte Weise aufspaltet und anschwillt.<br \/>\nTats\u00e4chlich hat der Timavo eine lange unterirdische Strecke von fast 40 Kilometern, die von den H\u00f6hlen von San Canziano in Slowenien durch die Trebiciano-Schlucht f\u00fchrt, in dem Dorf San Giovanni di Duino wieder auftaucht und nach etwa zwei Kilometern in den Golf von Triest m\u00fcndet.<br \/>\nDie Wiederaufstiege sind ein sehr eindrucksvoller Ort, der leicht zu Fu\u00df besucht werden kann.<br \/>\nDas Wasser sprudelt in der N\u00e4he der gotischen Kirche San Giovanni in Tuba in einer Gr\u00fcnanlage, von der mehrere Naturpfade ausgehen. M\u00fcndungen wieder austritt.  <h5>ROUTE UND EIGENSCHAFTEN<\/h5>  Der Fluss Timavo flie\u00dft fast 90 km durch Kroatien, Slowenien und Italien.\nEr versinkt in der N\u00e4he der H\u00f6hlen von San Canziano in Slowenien und flie\u00dft durch die Trebiciano-Schlucht.\nEr taucht in dem Dorf San Giovanni di Duino wieder auf und m\u00fcndet nach ein paar Kilometern in den Golf von Triest.    <h5>DIE GESCHICHTE DER ERFORSCHUNG<\/h5>  Das Geheimnis des Timavo wird schon seit Jahrtausenden erforscht, so sehr, dass es sogar von Vergil in der Aeneis erw\u00e4hnt wurde.\nSeit Jahren steigen Gelehrte, Wissenschaftler und H\u00f6hlenforscher in die Trebiciano-Schlucht hinab, eines der &#8222;Fenster&#8220; zum unterirdischen Timavo, d.h. eine der tiefen H\u00f6hlen, auf deren Grund das Wasser des Flusses flie\u00dft.
