heart of the Trieste Karst, an area unique for its wealth of caves and cavities, is the Torri di Slivia Cave, a private cave, but open to the public, and one of the most beautiful of those that can be visited. The cave is known for being extremely concreted with stalactites, stalagmites and calcite flows of all shapes and sizes. This underground universe is expertly presented by the owner who places special emphasis on eco-sustainable tourism and environmental protection. In fact, the cave is home to several geological and scientific studies, including those related to the deposition of microplastics, which, unfortunately, also occurs in the underground From the entrance, 200 steps lead down 60 meters to a first chamber where a very unusual formation, Tower Eleven, can be observed. From here, continue to a rock terrace overlooking a large hall. The grandeur of the environment is exciting. Concretions stud the vertical walls, bottom, and vault. In the middle of the latter is a shaft into which one can rappel from the outside, a popular destination for cavers.\n<h5>ROUTE, DURATION, DIFFICULTY<\/h5>\nThe route is 200 steps and on a beaten surface. The road surface is not linear and can be slippery in places, but it does not present any relevant difficulties and is suitable for everyone, including children, for whom the cave is a magical and instructive environment.\n<h5>CLOTHING<\/h5>\nThe temperature inside the cave is 6\u00b0\/9\u00b0. It is recommended to carry a sweatshirt or light jacket even in summer, when the temperature range is greatest. The environment has 98% humidity and the road surface can be slippery. Comfortable footwear with rubber soles or boots are mandatory.\n<h5>RECOMMENDATIONS<\/h5>\nEven the smallest concretion is formed over thousands of years, and if touched, this process is stopped irreparably. We must preserve the beauty of the cave and respect the work of time by not touching anything.\n\nThe cave is populated by a colony of bats, and if you are lucky, you have a chance to see some fluttering around. The morning shift starts at 11:00 a.m., the afternoon shift with times varying according to the season.<\/p>\n<h5>COST AND TOUR BOOKING<\/h5>\n<p>The unit cost of the admission ticket is \u20ac16.50 for full, \u20ac9 for reduced. Reservations are required and each tour includes groups of up to 20 people. The tour is in Italian or, with audio guide, in English, German, Spanish, Slovenian, Slovak, Dutch, Hungarian, Russian, and Chinese.<\/p>\n<h5>SERVICES AND ROOMS<\/h5>\n<p>The ticketing\/reception area is equipped with restrooms. The facility does not have a bar or restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Torri di Slivia is also agritourism, with only overnight service, and does not offer food service. It has 4 double, triple or twin rooms with private bathrooms.
