Il monte \u00e8 ricco di aree boschive e, nell&#8217;entroterra, si snodano cunicoli di grotte, tra cui quelle di Villanova. <br \/>Sulla vetta del Bernadia, a 866 metri, si eleva il Forte del Monte Bernadia-Monte Lonza, imponente struttura difensiva su tre piani. Il forte fu costruito nel 1910 allo scopo di bloccare eventuali invasioni che giungessero dalle Valli del Torre, ma rest\u00f2 inutilizzato. In tempi recenti \u00e8 stato restaurato a simboleggiare l&#8217;assurdit\u00e0 della guerra e l&#8217;importanza della pace.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div Si incontrano una casamatta, deposito di munizioni, e una postazione per quattro cannoni da 75 mm; proseguendo per un&#8217;altra mezz&#8217;ora si arriva ad un punto panoramico, base di lancio per deltaplani.<\/p>\n<h5>L&#8217;ANELLO DEL BERNADIA<\/h5>\n<p>Il percorso \u00e8 adatto ad escursionisti allenati: si snoda su sentieri nel bosco, strade forestali e strade asfaltate per un totale di 15,5 km, con 800 m di dislivello. Si attraversano le zone del forte, della batteria del Pocivalo, delle grotte di Villanova e si possono visitare l&#8217;abisso di Vigant e la chiesa della Madonna della Pace, presso il borgo di Useunt.<\/p>\n<h5>COME ARRIVARE<\/h5>\n<p>Da Tarcento seguire le indicazioni per Sedilis e successivamente quelle per il Monte Bernadia. Il forte \u00e8 raggiungibile anche da Villanova delle Grotte.
