Boat tour of the Marano Lagoon from Lignano Sabbiadoro to the mouth of the Stella River

If you are looking for a truly unique experience in close contact with nature, the excursion to the Stella River mouth is just what you need. The Stella is a navigable resurgent river that flows through Friuli Venezia Giulia. It originates in Flambro and flows for 45 km before emptying into the Marano Lagoon, near the Villaggio dei Pescatori, in the Foci dello Stella nature reserve, a protected natural area in Friuli Venezia Giulia and an oasis of refuge and repopulation for numerous species of birds: ducks, herring gulls, swans, red and grey herons, marsh harriers and many others. Navigating the Marano Lagoon is a special experience that is always greatly appreciated by everyone, young and old alike. Entering the mouth of the Stella River, you navigate the river through channels lined with marsh reeds. The excursion allows you to discover a lot about the peculiarities of this area, such as the characteristic “casoni”, or shelters once used by hunters and fishermen, which formed a real village. During the excursion, you will also come across the distinctive fishing hut typical of lagoon and river areas called a “bilancione”, a name that derives from the large square net, the “bilancione”, which is immersed in the water and lifted periodically to collect the catch. The boat trip then continues along the Stella river until it reaches the hamlet of Titiano, where the restaurant “Al fiume” is located in a bend of the river.
