If you are looking for a truly unique experience in close contact with nature, the excursion to the Stella River Mouths is for you. The river Stella is a navigable resurgence river flowing in Friuli Venezia Giulia. It originates in Flambro and flows after 45 km into the Marano Lagoon, near the Villaggio dei Pescatori (Fishermen's Village), in the 'Foci dello Stella' nature reserve, a protected natural area in Friuli Venezia Giulia and an oasis of refuge and repopulation for numerous bird species: geese, herring gulls, swans, red and grey herons, marsh harriers and many others. Sailing in the Marano Lagoon is a special thrill that is always enjoyed by everyone, young and old alike. Entering the mouth of the Stella river, one navigates the river through channels lined with marsh reeds. The excursion allows you to discover a lot about the peculiarities of this area, such as the characteristic 'casoni', or shelters once used by hunters and fishermen to form a real village. During the excursion you will also come across the particular fishing hut typical of the lagoon and river areas called 'bilancione', a name derived from the large square net, the 'bilancione' in fact, which is immersed in the water and lifted periodically to collect the catch. The navigation then continues along the Stella river until reaching the hamlet of Titiano where, in a bend in the river, there is the 'Al fiume' restaurant.
