From the small church of Sottomonte di Meduno, we climb to the 1,100 metres of Monte Valinis, in the Carnic Pre-Alps, famous for free flying and mountain running, as it hosts national and international competitions. The route is circular and begins in a dense forest; as we climb, the vegetation tends to thin out, giving way to 360° views of the Friulian Dolomites, the Julian and Carnic Alps, the Adriatic coast and the Veneto-Friuli plain. Packed lunch.
A circular cultural cycle route to discover the cities of Gorizia and Nova Gorica during GO2025! Points of interest include Gorizia Castle, Piazza Vittoria and the Slovenian border, the entrance to Nova Gorica and Castagnevizza Monastery. Transalpine station, Salkano, an ancient railway bridge rebuilt during the Fascist period and now an engineering masterpiece. Borgo San Mauro on the slopes of Mount Sabotino, then crossing the city of Gorizia towards Piazzale Casa Rossa. An experience also suitable for people who do not cycle frequently. E-bike hire available.
A simple historical-naturalistic excursion that allows you to reach Monte Oregone via an easy path: this is a grassy peak that is little frequented in favour of the more famous Peralba and Chiadenis, but which offers a very panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. On the return journey, there will be an opportunity to have lunch at the Calvi Refuge.
A historical and naturalistic excursion that leads to the discovery of one of the most precious and spectacular natural jewels of the Carnic Alps. The itinerary follows a circular route that alternates between woods and meadows, leading to the glacial basin that is home to Lake Bordaglia, located within the Bordaglia-Fleons Wildlife Oasis. There will also be an opportunity to talk about the history that has characterised these places, particularly the events that took place during the Great War and, to some extent, during the Second World War.
Trekking in the heart of the Italian Julian Alps, during which we will explore some of the most iconic landscapes of this extraordinary mountain range. From the beautiful Val Saisera we will ascend to Rifugio Pellarini and beyond, where the realm of man ends and that of chamois begins. On the first day we will explore the forks and plateau at the base of the majestic Jôf Fuart, while on the second day we will hike at the foot of the wild and imposing Cime delle Rondini, until we reach the panoramic Cima del Cacciatore, which dominates the village of Mount Lussari. From here, it will be possible to add an optional extension to visit the village. Ancient woods will finally accompany us back to Val Saisera, immersed in a truly enchanted atmosphere.
With this splendid excursion, demanding but extremely rewarding, we will reach the highest peak of the Julian Pre-Alps: Mount Plauris, crossing the unspoilt landscapes of the wild Val Venzonassa. This austere valley offers, before climbing the broad ridges that precede the peak, a great variety of environments: lush forests, verdant hollows, spectacular views of rock faces and the surrounding mountains. On reaching Casera Ungarina, the landscape becomes spectacular: the woods give way to broad meadows and bold ridges that, like elegant blades, stretch out towards the isolated summit of Plauris. Here, with a bit of luck, we will be able to admire the first edelweiss of the season and, perhaps, encounter some ibex or a majestic griffon vulture. From the summit, the panorama is simply priceless: you can see the Julian Alps, the Carnic Alps, the Dolomites, the plain and, with favourable weather, even the sea.
Experience the magic of the Karst during the golden hour, until dusk and its enchanting colours. Our destination will be Kremenjak, a wild and striking relief located right on the border with Slovenia. From here, our gaze sweeps freely: from the Adriatic Sea to the distant Dolomites. At sunset, we will witness a unique spectacle: the longest sunset of the year will colour the sky and touch with its last rays the 'king of the Dolomites', the majestic Mount Antelao. Along the way, amidst golden light and long shadows, we will talk about myths, legends and traditions linked to the summer solstice, one of the most fascinating nights of the year.
Hike between Valcalda and the But valley, in the heart of Carnia. We will cross the suggestive pastures surrounding the Zoufplan lakes, until we reach the panoramic peak of Cimone di Crasulina, a real 5-star observation point! In addition to the extraordinary scenic beauty, the area is of great geological interest: the clear glacial modelling of the territory is accompanied by a very ancient history linked to volcanic activity. In fact, hidden in these mountains are the so-called 'lava pillows', rock formations created by underwater eruptions millions of years ago, which are visible on the surface today. This excursion is therefore much more than a simple walk: it is an authentic journey through geological eras, where ice and fire have modelled a unique and surprising landscape, creating a perfect balance between nature, history and wonder.
From the gentle basin of malga Promosio to the pass of the same name, the excursion takes us along a long, elegant and irresistible ridge: the splendid crest that joins Mount Scarniz to the Cuestalta. An aerial itinerary of almost two kilometres, suspended between sky and earth, where the wild slopes are caressed by the mountain breeze and the silence amplifies every emotion. This journey through the clouds should be approached with respect and sensitivity: the luminous beauty of the landscapes is in fact intertwined with the painful memories of the First World War, still visible in the remains that dot the ridge. Over a century ago, what today appears as a corner of paradise was the front line, and the scars of the past deserve attention and remembrance. The hike thus becomes a complete experience, where unspoilt nature, history and emotion come together. From the ridge, the gaze embraces a boundless panorama: from Carnia to the Julian Alps, as far as the distant Austrian giants. A precious gift for those who know how to let themselves be guided by the mountain wind.
The Cuel di Lanis represents one of the last and most prominent eastern elevations of the long Chiampon ridge. Its isolated position, suspended above the Valle del Torre, and the rugged, wild environment that surrounds it, make it anything but a 'minor peak'. Its slopes, covered with fascinating forests, rise steeply towards the sky, finally leaving only rock and grass. Together, these elements shape an exceptional panoramic pulpit overlooking the Julian Pre-Alps, the Friulian plain and the Carnic Pre-Alps. The isolation of the place also makes it an authentic faunal paradise: it is not uncommon, in fact, to meet chamois on the slopes or to catch sight of griffon vultures in flight, as they silently fly over the skies of Friuli.
The majestic and silent Mount Briniza stands as the solitary guardian of the Montemaggiore chain to the west. With its wild and unspoilt surroundings, it is the highest peak of this long ridge and offers an unforgettable excursion close to the Torre Valley. We find ourselves in a remote and wild territory, where humans are guests and the real masters of the house are chamois and griffon vultures, often spotted flying over these peaks. For almost the entire route, breathtaking views of the Julian Alps and the plain accompany hikers' steps. To complete the adventure, the excursion is enriched by the climb to the nearby peak of Monte Testa Grande.
Discover the timeless charm of Partistagno Castle, nestled in the woods of the Valli del Torre. Accompanied by an expert guide, you will explore the medieval remains of this fortress stratified over the centuries and learn about the vicissitudes of its protagonists, from the Attems to the lords of Cucagna, letting yourself be enchanted by the tales that still resound within the ancient walls. An immersion in the history of medieval Friuli, between nature and culture.
