In western Friuli, Monte Lupo is a real jewel, all waiting to be discovered. Its traverse combines splendid panoramas, including views of Lake Barcis, mysterious beech forests and the ancient history of San Daniele del Monte, a medieval sanctuary built in an impervious and solitary place, of which only the ruins remain today. On the ridge of the relief, the quietness of the mountain and the tranquillity of nature seem to project hikers into a distant world, although in reality they are only a few hundred metres above the town of Barcis and its lake. The Wolf is, in fact, a magnificent balcony over the entire reservoir area. A place where nature, history and tranquillity meet, immersed in the tranquillity of the Carnic Pre-Alps.
