A wonderful panorama encroaches on the surrounding valleys from a much-loved malga, Malga Poccet. Loved by hikers because it is the starting point to reach, even on the same day, the peaks of Mount Schenone at 1950 meters, Jôf di Dogna at 1961 meters, and Clap del Jovel; loved by nature and mountain lovers; loved for the genuine goodness of the products of the farmhouse and the commissary.
Kindness and friendliness distinguish this malga. The family that runs it welcomes guests with heart and always with a smile.
Mountain enthusiasts can choose from the many nature trails and hiking trails leading to the peaks of the surrounding mountains.
The home cooking at Malga Poccet is exquisite. Dishes are prepared from the farm products and you can feel the authenticity in every bite.
The malga is located in Pietratagliata, a hamlet of Pontebba, on a grassy plateau surrounded by mountain peaks, including that of the well-known Mount Schenone. The environment is extremely peaceful and it is possible to have lunch in the shade on the rooftop terrace. From here the view is magnificent over the valley, and as you climb Mount Schenone, you have a breathtaking panorama of the Canin, Coglians and Zuc dal Bor peaks.
Several interesting paths branch off from the malga, both from a naturalistic point of view, thanks to the charming walks through green meadows and mountain pine forests, and from a landscape point of view, with the striking views of Val Dogna on one side and Canal del Ferro on the other. The area is also historically rich, as there are several remnants of war works dating back to the Great War. Some of the most popular routes include:
The malga includes a commissary where fresh daily cheeses and cottage cheese can be purchased directly from the cheesemaker.
The malga offers farmhouse service throughout the summer season. Reservations are not required, but are recommended as seating is limited. For dinner, however, reservations are required.
The malga is open only in the summer period, roughly from mid-April to September, and in October and November only on weekends. For more information contact the malga directly.

Malga Poccet offers traditional cuisine, with Friulian dishes and generous portions. The kitchen is home-style, and all family members work together to satisfy guests’ palates with typical specialties and dishes of the day. In addition to frico and polenta, you can taste the excellent pasta dishes, game and, to top it off, the tarts. As an appetizer, one must not fail to order the mixed platter of sliced meats and cheeses made on the farm.
From Pietratagliata in Pontebba, drive along the municipal road for about 8 km until you reach the malga. The road is narrow and has hairpin bends, but it is paved and the route is well marked.
Malga Poccet can also be reached by mountain bike.
